Crazy winter like conditions down in Hossegor and crappy banks haven't stopped the smiles and Aloha from spreading throughout Les Landes. Was down at the Euro champs and Aloha was flooding the beach with such Celtic kings as Mark Vaughan and John Macarthy batling it out in the seniors in the best afternoon of the month. The open final was pretty damn mental with marlon ' the people's champion' lipke just missing out after the judges got all excited at Mickey's opening wave. Another glory of europe, SE blogger Emi Cataldi was desperately unfortunate not to make it through to the final and a podium finish in the seniors that his surfing, Italian charm and general life aloha deserved.

And what of the English? A poor result due to yet more political wranglings on home turf. A ramshackle team sent without leadership could only let them down and again find themselves looked on as a backwater of Europe. There's a big BSA EGM in Newquay on the 30th of this month and anyone with an interest should attend. A chance to hear what is going on, what the options are and be heard if you have a voice. If you can't attend you can vote in proxy (details at britsurf.co.uk). My vote has already left the Seignosse Bourg Poste Office and it's pretty clear. DITCH THE WITCH!
