
The 2007 Hyundai National Surfing Championships will be held in Taranaki, New Zealand in January and hosted by Oakura Boardriders. The event is set to take place from the 13th–20th January and will be the second event of the Corona Crown – New Zealand’s premier domestic competition. The event is regarded by many as the pinnacle domestic surfing event and as such attracts in excess of 300 entries from the length and breadth of the country.

Professional surfing’s most prestigious and coveted titles are once again on-the-line at the 2006 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, due to take place on Oahu’s famed North Shore from 12th Nov - 20th Dec 2006.

The surf kicked up a notch and the top-seeded competitors raised the level of competition yesterday at day three of the O’Neill Cold Water Classic presented by Jeep. The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) four-star event opened up in clean 3-4 foot waves yesterday morning at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, California.

Day four of the 2006 Lost Energy Drink ISA World Surfing Games was greeted with conditions that waveriders dream about with warm water, sunny skies and head-high to overhead waves for the Open Repercharge Rounds 2 and 3, Bodyboard Men Repercharge 2 and Bodyboard Women divisions. Consistent barrels fired throughout the competition day resulting in a battle between all contenders to paddle for position, pull in deeper and execute combinations to win over their opponents.

The superstars of international surfing will team up for a public signing session today in Auckland ahead of the 2006 Vodafone Surf Sessions in Piha on Saturday (21st October).

Day two of the 2006 Lost Energy Drink ISA World Surfing Games took place yesterday with the Men’s Open division where the top surfers of the world displayed tremendous talent amongst the 33 competing countries. All the competitors set their best foot forward with a constant execution of explosive tricks despite the slow sections within the 2 to 4 foot waves.

The top North American junior professional surfers are set to compete at the Pro Junior National Championships being held at the 2006 O'Neill Coldwater Classic at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, Calif. The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America Grade 2 Oakley Pro Junior will take place October 20-22nd, 2006.

After putting in an inspired performance at the Headworx Welsh Open, hot 19-year-old Jersey surfer Fabian Baker has been signed to surf-lifestyle clothing label Headworx as the latest addition to the brand’s UK rider team.

The ISA World Surfing Games is due to kick off in Huntingdon Beach, California today.

Reef rider Bobby Martinez claimed his second victory on the Men’s WCT on Friday, as he defeated Kelly Slater in the final of the Billabong Pro Mundaka. Bobby proved he was a forced to be reckoned with as he took down World Champ Andy Irons in the quarter finals and world ranked #10 Dean Morrison in the semis, only to be faced up against World Champ Kelly Slater in the main event.

Quiksilver athlete Kelly Slater (Cocoa Beach, Florida) won his eighth world surfing championship on Friday in Mundaka, Spain. With wins at the first two contests of the ASP World Championship Tour and consistent top five finishes the rest of the season, Slater’s victory at Mundaka culminates yet another incredible season for the surfer and further solidifies his place as one of the greatest surfers of all time.

Top surfers from all across South America are set to light the “SoupBowl” in Bathsheba on fire on November 3-5th. The South Americans will have to battle for the top spot and should expect tough competition from the Islands best surfers and the usual strong contingent from the USA, Europe and Caribbean region.
