Oakley Pro Junior Contest in Newport
The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) has announced that a fourth Oakley Pro Junior contest has been added to the 2006 junior event series.

Most Surfers on a Wave - Successful Record Attempt!
Muizenberg beach in Cape Town became the unofficial home of the Guinness World Record for the 'Most surfers standing on a single wave' on Sunday 17th September when 73 surfers caught and rode the same wave. The official record stands at 44 set by the Lahinch Surf Club in Ireland in May while a claim of 53 has been submitted from Bali.
Volcom Totally Crustaceous Tour
Damien Fahrenfort overcame a stacked field to win the Volcom Elephantfish Title at East Beach, Port Alfred on Sunday. In perfect 6ft+ waves, Fahrenfort edged out runner-up, Ryan Payne, in a close final thanks to an impressive display of massive forehand surfing. Payne’s long tube ride midway through the heat brought him agonisingly close to a victory but it was a series of huge, aggressive turns that eventually secured the win for Fahrenfort.
Boost Mobile Pro Results
Billabong Team Rider Bede "Durbo" Durbidge, has upstaged seven times world champion Kelly Slater to take out the Boost Mobile Pro in California. In his first ever World Championship Tour (WCT) win, the 23 year-old Aussie was on fire, ousting Andy Irons, Taj Burrow and local favourite Chris Ward on his way to the final in fun 3-4ft waves at Trestles.

2006 Surfer Poll Awards
Reef’s elite had a monumental night at the 2006 Surfer Poll Awards witnessed by a packed house at the Grove Theatre in Anaheim, California. Voted on by fans, Bobby Martinez, Rob Machado, Mick Fanning and Sofia Mulanovich all made the prestigious top ten Surfer Poll list, with Martinez and Mulanovich both picking up category specific awards as well.
Pat Gudauskas Wins Pantin Pro
Pat Gudauskas secured his 2nd WQS event win for the 2006 season at the Pantin Pro to place himself within striking distance of WCT qualification.
