"We've called a lay day due to the northeasterly wind and we're expecting this wind to remain all day and even into tomorrow," said Contest Director Rod Brooks.

Taranaki’s Paige Hareb had a clean sweep of all possible divisions at the Rip Curl Clean and Clear Women’s Pro held at Tay Street, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand last weekend. Hareb won the premier Open Women’s Division, the Under 18 Women’s Division and also the Clean and Clear Expression Session in an inspiring display of surfing. Recently back from Australia, Hareb’s surfing was fast and powerful as she looked to attack every wave in the clean 1.0m conditions.

Peruvian Sebastián Alarcón won the Reef Classic Latin Pro Perú 2007. The Latin Tour third stage ended with Punta Rocas break in Peru offering three to four feet perfect waves. Alarcón beat Brazilian Alardreson Martins on an exciting final that had a close final score of 13.76 versus 13.33.

The world’s best surfers have congregated on Australia’s Gold Coast for the opening events of the 2007 Foster’s ASP World Tour and ASP Women’s World Tour, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast and Roxy Pro Gold Coast respectively.

Brandon Jackson produced a superb ride five minutes from the end of the final to clinch the Pro Junior boys’ title in the first event of the 2007 Billabong Junior Series for surfers 20 and younger held at St Michaels-on Sea on the KZN South coast of South Africa on Sunday.
