Tiago Pires leads the WQS ratings!
Billabong’s top European surfer Tiago Pires (Ericeira, Portugal) has taken the lead of the WQS ratings (the World Qualifying Series to the World Championship Tour), after finishing second in the Drug Aware Pro, a 6-star WQS event staged at the famed Margaret River, in Western Australia.
Rip Curl Women’s Pro Hits Bells Beach
The second stop on the ASP Women’s World Tour, the Rip Curl Women’s Pro at Bells Beach, Australia, will see the event’s triumphant return to the ASP calendar after a 2006 absence. Running from April 3-8, 2007, the Rip Curl Women’s Pro can be completed in two full days of surfing. It will run in tandem with the men’s division of the Rip Curl Pro which takes four days to run and has a waiting period that stretches an additional five days until April 13, 2007.
O’Neill Highland Open: Biggest UK Surf Event
The O’Neill Highland Open presented by Swatch is the biggest surf event ever to be held in the UK, rated as an ASP 6-Star WQS Mens Event. Organisers are preparing for kick off in Thurso East, Scotland from 24 April - 1 May 2007.
Brandon Roberts Wins Billabong Pro Junior Durban
Brandon Roberts went unbeaten through five rounds, including the final, to secure his first title in the premier Pro Junior boys division of the Billabong Junior Series outside of Cape Town at the second of five events held at the Bay of Plenty in Durban, South Africa on Sunday.
Billabong Pro Junior Series in New Zealand - Results
Sunshine Coast surfing star Julian Wilson (Coolum) and Gold Coast based Kiwi Airini Mason have won their respective divisions at the $13,000 Billabong Pro Junior Series event in Raglan, New Zealand. The final day was staged in clean 1m waves at Ruapuke Beach break, located 20 minutes south of Raglan.
Kieren Perrow wins Drug Aware Pro
Australia’s Kieren Perrow (Byron Bay, NSW) today won the six-star prime-rated Drug Aware Pro Margaret River, Western Australia, beating Portugal’s Tiago Pires in testing three-metre (10ft) surf.
