
Dale Staples is the new Quiksilver King Of The Groms! A blistering performance over the three events, including a fine performance in this final event at Inner Pool in Mossel Bay saw Dale claim the crown as King Of The Groms for 2007 as early as the quarter finals. Needing to place fifth or higher in the event, Dale secured his title with a second place in the quarter-final, thus edging out last year’s King, Matthew Bromley.

Round 2 of the Rip Curl Pro Search ran ten heats of Foster’s ASP World Tour action at Ex Isla Alacran. Heats 4 through 10 were run in eight foot (two and a half metre) sets before the winds turned onshore and competition was called off.

The Foster’s ASP World Tour is enjoying its first ever stop in Chile, South America, this week for the third annual Rip Curl Pro Search surfing event. Top ranked competitors experienced a mixed day of results in Round 1, highlighted by current world number 1 Mick Fanning and world number 2 Taj Burrow’s dramatic heats in the middle of the day.

Because of a violent pesticide in the area of Santander over the 21st/22nd of July, organisers have decided to move the Moskito Tour to the 28th/29th of July. They believe the competing Moskitos will be able to express themselves better during these dates. The next leg of the Moskito Tour will be in Zaurutz on the 14th and 15th of July.

The Fat Face Night Surf heads Lusty Glaze Beach, Newquay between the 22nd-24th June, and looks set to be the best event yet. In conjunction with the BPSA, (UK Pro Surf Tour), The Fat Face Night Surf is now in its eighth year. Following such a great turnout last year, where a 'one in', 'one out' system had to operate, this year the Saturday Night is being ticketed.

The Oxbow Kid's Week is kicking off on 23rd June with the chance for all budding surfers aged 16 and under to win a coveted place on the Oxbow team. Six events are taking place throughout the summer, with the winner from each contest going through to the final, to be held in Anglet, France from July 21-28, 2007.

Foster’s ASP World Tour No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS) and in-form rookie Jeremy Flores (FRA) wasted no time finding their feet in Round 1 of the Rip Curl Pro Chile. Heats 1 through 12 were run in four to six foot (two to three metre) waves at the meaty point-break wave of Ex-Isla Alacran today. Fanning and Flores set the pace and are both through to Round 3.
