
History in the making... Chilean surfer Manuel Selman has won the first ever Rip Curl Pro Search Trials in Arica. Placing in the runner-up trials slot is Cristian Merello. The two Chileans now have wildcards to compete in the main contest against the best surfers in the world.

After two consecutive years of inconsistent surf for the Hossegor stop of the Mulletfish surf series, the conditions were given the go-ahead for this year’s edition. It was run on the sandbank of 'Les Culs Nus' instead of the famous 'La Nord' because the wave was breaking at high tide right in front of the Volcom surf Team House.

The Rip Curl Pro Search world tour surfing event has seen amazing success in the last two years (2005 in Reunion Island and 2006 'Somewhere in Mexico')... This year, Rip Curl has spiced things up by taking the Foster's ASP World Tour to the northern tip of Chile, setting up the contest on Ex-Isla Alacran (Scorpion Island) in Arica, Chile.

The Foster’s ASP World Tour is definitely on and the one and only European on tour - Jérémy Flores - will soon hit Chile for the Rip Curl Search WCT event which will take place in Arica, northern border of the country.

The Rip Curl Pro Search hits Arica, Chile for the ASP World Championship Tour Event #4 from 20th June - 1st July 2007.

The Roxy ASP Women's World Longboard Championship (WWLC) will take place from July 11-16, 2007 at Côte des Basques, Biarritz, France. The event is run in conjunction with the Roxy Jam Biarritz and will decide the 2007 ASP Women’s World Longboard Champion.

The final event of the Quiksilver King Of The Groms Series presented by Virgin Mobile In Association With Resolution Health. The series has two divisions, the U20 and the premier U16 Grom division. The winner of the U16 series receives an all expenses paid trip to the grand finals in France and an opportunity to become the international King of The Groms. The King will then be awarded a guaranteed trials slot into two of the world’s biggest WCT’s - the Quiksilver Pro France, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. That grom will thus receive a rare chance to achieve a major result in a WCT event. The winner of the U20 division receives a return trip to Hawaii. There’s also a prize pool of R22000 per event, with R5000 for first in the U20 division and R3500 for first in the Grom division.

The surfing competition of ESPN’s X Games will be held for a third consecutive year in Puerto Escondido. Famous for the big powerful waves of Zicatela Beach, the Men’s, Women’s and Local’s competitions are scheduled for July 3-6 at the “Mexican Pipeline.” This year’s competition will feature two new events, Women’s Surfing and the “USA vs. the World” format replacing the “East Coast vs. West Coast” format in years past. The majority of X Games 13 will be held August 2-5, in Los Angeles.

The Extreme Academy will host the penultimate - and quite possibly decisive - round of the British Longboard Union series of surfing contests this weekend. The country’s best longboard surfers will congregate at Watergate Bay, Cornwall, on the weekend of 16th and 17th June to compete in the Oxbow Midsummer Classic, the fourth of five events which make up the 2007 BLU series.
