events: Mirka Solar was announced the winner of the Billabong Solo Chicas Circuit last weekend. The final round of the contest, which took place at Zarautz, Guipúzcoa, attracted around 160 female competitiors for the girls-only surf festival with prizes of 3,000 euros, free surf lessons, trophies and gifts from Kustom and Billabong.

events: The O'Neill Sultans of Surf is the biggest event on the Belgian surfing calendar. The O'Neill Sultans of Surf pre-event will take place at Windekind Oostduinkerke on September 9-10th, with a top prize of free tickets to the final in Morocco in November.

events: Huntington Beach has been announced as the host of the 2006 ISA World Surfing Games. The International Surfing Association (ISA) is the world governing body for the sport of surfing, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), members of the ISA include the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries in six continents.

events: Billabong's top european surfer Tiago Pires sealed a great victory at the Buondi Billabong Pro (WQS event) for the second consecutive year. In consistent 3 to 5 ft wave at his home break in Ribeira de Ilhas, Ericeira, Portugal, Pires scored a total 19,20 point in the finals, with two 9+ waves, to secure his win in front of Hawaiian Fred Patacchia.

events: The final day of the Roxy Surf Jam in Cape Town, South Africa, saw all the girls ripping in their heats. Clean three-foot lefts and rights were coming through consistently throughout the day, and the girls were tearing them apart all the way through to the notorious Long Beach shorebreak.
