events: The Billabong Junior Pro Series Event 'In Memory of Ronnie Burns' was the final qualifying event in North America for the World Billabong Junior Championships. The event took place at Kewalo Basin, Oahu, Hawaii on August 31st, 2006, and saw Billabong grom Leila Hurst take third place when she was out-surfed by Carissa Moore in the semi finals.

events: Mirka Solar was announced the winner of the Billabong Solo Chicas Circuit last weekend. The final round of the contest, which took place at Zarautz, Guipúzcoa, attracted around 160 female competitiors for the girls-only surf festival with prizes of 3,000 euros, free surf lessons, trophies and gifts from Kustom and Billabong.

events: The O'Neill Sultans of Surf is the biggest event on the Belgian surfing calendar. The O'Neill Sultans of Surf pre-event will take place at Windekind Oostduinkerke on September 9-10th, with a top prize of free tickets to the final in Morocco in November.

events: Roxy, in conjunction with The Women's World Longboarding Championships (WWLC), will hold the first ever US ASP-sanctioned women's longboarding competition, the Roxy Jam Cardiff Featuring the Linda Benson Women's Longboard Pro.

After a nail-biting contest, ASP Women's World Tour rookie Jessi Miley-Dyer (AUS) tasted sweet revenge when she eliminated six-time world champion and current world No. 1 Layne Beachley (AUS) in the quarter-finals of the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle on Sunday 3rd September.

events: Huntington Beach has been announced as the host of the 2006 ISA World Surfing Games. The International Surfing Association (ISA) is the world governing body for the sport of surfing, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), members of the ISA include the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries in six continents.
