Following a worldwide qualifying tour, sixteen surfers aged 16 and under came together in the Landes region of south-west France to compete for the much sought-after title of King of the Groms. The Reunionese Maxime Huscenot, dominant throughout the series, showed formidable cool-headedness in this extremely tight final, which he won in the dying seconds. - found in

The Billabong Pro returns to the mythical barrels of Mundaka between September 29th to October 12th 2008, with a prize purse of $320,000 USD. The contest managers and the ASP have jointly decided to cancel the second round known as the "losers" round. This way, it allows to maximise the quality of waves surfed at Mundaka within the swell windows given by mother nature. - found in

The completion of round 3 on day 5 of competition saw difficult conditions at the Estagnots sand bank with competitors finding it tricky to negotiate the strong rip and increasing swell. Highlights included Dane Reynolds taking out Jordy Smith for the second time this year and Michel Bourez ousting Bede Durbride with the highest heat total of the day: 19.57. Unfortunately other remaining Europeans Jéremy Flores and Tiago Pires lost their heats. - found in

Blessed with great weather, great waves and a cool relaxed contest vibe, the 9th edition of the Nixon Surf Challenge went down in San Sebastian, Spain last weekend 19th-21st September, with Casey Brown from Hawaii taking out the event to Eric Rebière (2nd), Kosh Kerr (3rd ) and Hira Terinatoofa (4th) in the finals.
